Regina was tragically killed on June 7, 2008.  She was dedicated to all that "Barefoot Retreats" was about and was instrumental in making it happen.  We were honored to have her as part of our team.  Only the words of her children can express what she meant to us all.

Dear Mommy,

Words cannot express the love and beauty that you added to our lives.  Please know that with every day that passes, your memory will forever guide all that we do.  We know that each day will be a tiny bit easier than the one before, and we know that you would want nothing more than for us to live our lives with great conviction.  Your bold, audacious free spirit continues to flow through each one of us and is the fire, the passion that will allow us to get through the darkest hour.  If you're reading this, Mom, we know that you're already home and it was Abuelo's whistle that guided you in those last moments; his hand held yours when we could not.  We know that the two of you are looking down on us.  Please know that we cherish all those memories that you gave each one of us, and that we hold no regrets because you would not want it any other way.  Please know you did not live your life in vain, and that your passion for life forever lives on in our hearts.  We love you more than we were ever able to say.
